Ogun State House of Assembly is worried over the terrible condition of OGTV-Ajebo and Kotopo Roads both in Abeokuta, the state capital and has set up a special Committee to begin the immediate process of carrying out palliative on the roads, so as to ease the movements of residents and commuters plying the roads.
The Special Coordinating Committee includes the House Committees on Transportation, Industry, Trade and Investments as well as that of Works and Infastructure
Chairman of the House Committee on Transport, Hon.Oludaisi Elemide facilitated the Coordinating Committee's meeting attended by the concerned stakeholders including the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Works, Engr. Yusuf Lateef, his Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments counterpart, Olu Ola Aikulola, representatives of Community Development Associations in the areas, those of Quarries and Mining Companies amongst others at the Assembly Complex, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.
Elemide explained that the need for the stakeholders to contribute their quota towards making lives better for the people, prompted the initiative, which he noted would allow all concerned groups work for the common good of the people.
Hon. Elemide named the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Works, Engr. Yusuf Lateef as the Chairman of the Coordinating Committee, while other members include the Director Geological Services in the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments, Mr. Lekan Eniolawun and the Zonal Community Development Officer, Mr. Oluwole Akinnuga.
Others are Engr. Gbenga Animashaun (TOAN), Taiwo Odejayi from (AGSOGRASH), Ogunseye Augustine (CDC Odeda), Evangelist Omikunle (CDC Obafemi), Soneye Tunde would represent the Miners, Alhaji Fasiu Oke and Sola Aikulola would serve as representatives of quarries operators on the Committee.
Parts of the Committee's terms of reference according to Hon. Elemide were to Identify the project's locations, determine the materials and cost implications, analyse the methodology of achieving the aim of the project and create a statistical enumeration of materials needed as well as other related matters and to submit its report by Friday 17th, September 2021.
