Gov.Abiodun Rewards Ogun Academic Laureates With Houses,CashGift

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has redeemed his administration's promises to various outstanding individuals who did the state proud in the education sector

 The academic laureates which included 

 students, teachers and schools were rewarded with cash prizes ranging between N5million and N50,000, while others got houses and laptops for their various exploit in the  competitions they participated in.

 Abiodun had on 22nd of April, 2021 recognised the lauretes at a ceremony held at the Obas Complex, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta in honour of their excellence, where he said that he was proud of the exploits that was achieved by the awardees.

The Governor speaking at the event which was held at the Ijegba forest, residence of Nobel Laurete, Prof. Wole Soyinka , Kemta Idi-Aba, Abeokuta, said that the evidence of the efforts of the present administration was evident in the emergence of the academic laureates who has shown great excellence and great exploits.

Abiodun while highlighting some of the achievements of the administration in the sector, promised to continue to sustained and uphold the proud legacy of the fore-fathers who as made the state a citadel of education. 

The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi enjoined the awardees to thrive in giving their best, he also promised that the state would continue to create enabling environment for learners to thrive.

"We are indeed proud of all our academic laureates who have distinguished themselves in different competition, and as a state we promised to continue in putting in the required provisions that will continue to aid teaching and learning activities that will produce more academic excellence", the Governor said.

The Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka who played host to the laureates encouraged them to always have an holistic sense of integration/interaction of subjects, which he said would help them to excel in all spheres of life.

Soyinka who also disclosed that solving mathematics which was a subject he disliked while in secondary school helped in saving his sanity during his 27 months confinement, advised the lauretes not to prioritise any subject above others.

 The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu had earlier in his welcome,enjoined the students to draw inspiration from the Nobel Laureate by not relent in achieving greatness in all they do.
