Dr. Aminu Ado has been appointed as the new Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) for the Federal University Dutsin-Ma, in Katsina State, North West, Nigeria
Acting Director, Public Relations and Protocol of the university,Habibu Matazu who made this known in a statement, said that the new Deputy Vice-Chancellor was elected at a special Senate meeting held on Thursday, September 23, 2021 at the university’s main campus.
Ado’s election followed the death of Prof. Lawal Saulawa, who served as the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic to the current Vice Chancellor of the Institution, Prof. Armaya’u Bichi.
Until his election as the new DVC, Ado was the Acting Dean, Faculty of Life Science.
He added in the statement that the Senate also elected the Director Research and Development, Dr. Muhammad Garba, to serve as its representative to council.
According to the statement, the Senate also, at the same special meeting, elected the Acting Dean, Faculty of Renewable Natural Resources, Dr. Kelechi Jude, as its representative in the Advisory Board of the University Directorate of Entrepreneurship Development Centre.
The Vice Chancellor, who chaired the senate meeting, urged the newly elected representatives to be good ambassadors in the discharge of their duties.
The Vice Chancellor also called for more support and cooperation of the senate members to enable him make the institution more conducive for teaching and learning.
Meanwhile, the management of the university has directed all Deans, Academic Directors and Heads of Department to ensure that academic activities resumed this Monday, 27th September, 2021.
The directive on the resumption was issued by the University Registrar and was contained in Matazu’s statement.
Students were reminded that the institution’s Mid-semester break ended on Sunday,26, September2021.
The institution advised parents to ensure that their children/wards “report back for normal lectures and other very important activities.”
