Afro-basket:D'Tigress,Battle Senegalese Ladies In S/Finals,Beat Ivorians 72-56

Nigeria's D'Tigress will clash with their arch-rivals, the Senegalese Women In this Friday's semi-finals of the ongoing FIBA-Women Afro-basket in Younde,Cameroon  after dominating Cote d'Ivoire 72-56points on Thursday

The African Champions are playing their third consecutive semi-finals with the victory over Cote d’Ivoire  at the Palais Polyvalent des Sports Arena in Yaounde .

The Nigerian women senior side  established the foundation for their win with a 24-8 blowout of their opponents in the first quarter and coasted through the rest of the game.

The Coach Otis Hughley tutored team  won the second 19-13; the third 16-14 but lost the fourth 13-21, after gathering enough points

The Cote d’Ivoire coach, Igor Kovacevic described the game against Nigeria as a motivation. 

According to him, D’Tigress are a “next level team and if they wanted to beat us by 40 points, they could have but they were satisfied with the score, keeping themselves for their next game.”

Ezinne Kalu was the top scorer for D’Tigress with a 100% success from the free-throw line while team-mates Victoria Macaulay scored 13 points and Promise Amukamara added 11 points.

Macaulay was the top rebounder with seven tips as the Nigerians cruised into the semi-final.

Coach, Otis Hughley however expressed his dissatisfaction with the level of officiating at the African most prestigious women Championship,
“You guys are going to stop the best players from coming to AfroBasket-the officiating; they have to control the game"

Host Cameroon take on Mali in the other semi-final encounter
