Former commissioner for sports in Ogun State, Bukola Olopade has lauded the Minister of Youth and Sports Development, Mr. Sunday Dare for his efforts in the rehabilitation of the MKO Abiola Stadium, Abuja and the National Stadium, Lagos.
Olopade who was full of praises for the Minister's intention at transforming the sporting facilities to make sports a viable sector, described the renovation of the traditional stadia as an attestation that more successes will be recorded in the Nigerian sports sector under him
The sports entrepreneur who is the Chief Executive Officer of Nilayo Sports Management Limited said "I salute the bold step taken by Chief Sunday Dare, now we have those Stadia In good shape which would result to more sporting events being staged in the country in a better atmosphere and a quality edifice"
"I celebrate the sports minister for his giant strides and I make bold to say that he has delivered and he will do more, he has done what others paid lip services on by bringing back the National Stadia," he expressed with
Similarly, Olopade also showered encomiums on the sports custodian for constituting a committee to unearth what led to the disqualification of ten team Nigeria athletes at the Tokyo Olympics.
He stressed the need to investigate the unfortunate event and has thrown his weight behind the minister for taking a step swiftly.
Olopade said "The athletes in question were very disappointed, it was a lifetime opportunity for most of them and I understand their pain, they will however be glad that the minister has taken a step to unravel the mystery behind the incident".
"The Minister has put together a committee with people of high integrity who are capable of doing a decent investigation"
The former Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria National League posited that the outcome of the investigation would make the disappointment mild in the mind of the athletes
He also appealed to the Federal Government to compensate them duly.
