150 Golfers To Compete For Prizes In 2nd King's Cup Tourney In Abeokuta



No fewer than 150 golfers from four teams in Ake, Gbagura, Oke-Ona Egbaland and Owu-Abeokuta will be competing for star prize of a return ticket to Kenya, courtesy of Kenya Airways , one of the sponsors of the 2nd King's Cup Golf Tournament slated to tee-off on 10th of October, 2021 at the Abeokuta Golf Club course in the Ogun State Capital

The tournament which has Rites Foods Limited producers of popular made in Nigeria  brands of Bigi range of beverage soft drinks as major sponsor as well as NDIC and Kenya Airways as co-sponsors, is being packaged by Nilayo Sports Management Limited NSML, to strengthen unity among four divisions of Ake, Oke-Ona Egbaland, Gbagura and Owu-Abeokuta in Egba-Kingdom


Chairman of the tournament's Local Organizing Committee, Wale Adeogun revealed these on Tuesday at a press conference in Abeokuta Golf Club, to usher in second edition of the competition

The immediate past captain of Abeokuta Golf Club, lauded the Nilayo Sports Management Limited NSML, Rite Foods, NDIC and Kenya Airways  for believing in the tournament which he assured would be sustained in the next 20 to 30 years with the support of the corporate organizations Bankrolling the tournament

"With the  support of our sponsors will do everything possible to ensure the continuity of the competition which is already institutionalized as annual tournament by the club and I can assure you it will continue for the next 20 or 30 years", he assured

Adeogun added that trophies and other prizes would be won golfers competing at various teams and individuals 

According to him, "The competition will be held under strict COVID-19 protocols with ambulance and medical team to response to any emergency"


Assistant Brand Manager of Rites Foods,Bolu Adedugbe explained that the company decided to be major sponsor to further identify with its consumers of Bigi range of soft drinks and appreciate their loyalty to proudly made in Nigeria brands

Chief Executive Officer of NSML, Bukola Olopade, a former Sports Commissioner in the state was full of praises for Rites Foods Limited for supporting Cultural heritage project such as the  King's Cup Golf Tournament, describing sports as the biggest tool of uniting Nigerians

Captain of Abeokuta Golf Club, Kola Adeleye described the golf course as one of the best in South West Nigeria with 15 holes, assuring participating golfers of a memorable experience on the course
