Remo Stars Finally Banished to Akure ..To Pay N1.3Million Fine



The Appeals Committee of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has finally banished  Remo Stars Football Club of Ikenne-Remo, to Akure Township Stadium in the Ondo State capital, for its next home match 

Also the Sky-blue side have been fined  the sum of N1,300.000.00 (One Million three hundred thousand naira) for various breaches of the rule book of the Nigeria National League(NNL) 2020/2021 season.

The team will only play one home match in Akure and later return to the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne-Remo  for rest of matches in the season

The Barrister Ibrahim Eddy Mark led Appeal’s Committee announced the ban and fine after its sitting on Thursday, 15 July 2021 on the Appeal lodged by Bendel Insurance football club of Benin against Remo Stars accused of physically assaulting its players and officials in  their group B2, week 21 clash  held at the Remo Stars Stadium, Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State on the 6th of June,2021.

Insurance had earlier rejected the N400,000 fine placed on Remo Stars by the Disciplinary Committee of the Nigeria National League, threatening to withdraw from the second tier league, until justice is done, hence the Benin-City side filed the appeal before the NFF 

A breakdown of the financial charges include, the sum of N200.000.0 (Two hundred Naira) as damages to the Camera and phones belonging to the officials of Bendel Insurance while
the sum of N500, 000.00 will be paid as cost for nominal damage(Medical bills) for the injuries inflicted to the players and officials of Bendel Insurance.

Also N100, 000.00 (One hundred thousand naira) will be paid for damages to the Bus of Bendel Insurance while N500, 000.00 (Five hundred naira) was placed on the team for encroachment and breach of Covid-19 protocols by its  supporters 

ALL Monies (Fines must be paid by Remo Stars before their next home game).

Conversely, Bendel Insurance received warning to desist from acts/conducts likely to bring the game of football to disrepute through through the use of social and mainstream media to address their grievances, if any.

Bendel Insurance are liable to be sanctioned in the event they breach the warning.
