Ogun To Use Tracker For Monitoring Of School Feeding

Ogun State Government has taken delivery of Feeding Data Tracker, a digital information technology device from Action Health Incorporated (AHI), a Non-Governmental Organisation, meant to effectively and efficiently monitor the school feeding programme in the State.

The State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Barr. Femi Ogunbanwo at the official handing-over of the device in Abeokuta, described the gesture as a massive intervention that would enable the State government record remarkable achievements on the programme.

He noted that the State had been enjoying partnership supports from a group of four NGOs, one of which is the AHI, pointing out that the enduring collaboration is yielding effective results in the monitoring of the programme, and has helped in achieving transparency and accountability.

"We shall continue to provide a conducive atmosphere for the success of your intervention in the four Local Government Areas that you monitor. We shall also find means by which the 16 other Local Government Areas can key into it and benefit from the monitoring tracker to ensure all parts of the State are on the same page", he said.

Earlier in her address, the Executive Director, AHI, Mrs. Adenike Essiet, disclosed that her organisation is funded by MacArthur Foundation and privileged to work in Ogun State to develop and test strategies, through which citizen-led advocacy and monitoring could be carried out.

Essiet added that the data tracker is a visually interesting and user-friendly platform, that would enable communities send school feeding monitoring information for central reporting, towards facilitating faster decision.
