Ogun TESCOM Spents Over N9Bn On Payment of Teachers,Others'Salaries

   


Ogun State Teaching Service Commission says it has expended  over N9.5bn on payment of salaries to teaching and non-teaching staff of the secondary schools within the last six months in the state

The Commission's Chairman, Evang. Olalekan Ifede, disclosed this while reeling out the performance of TESCOM between January and June, 2021 before the members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology led by Hon. Adeyemi Ademuyiwa.

Ifede added that the Commission had inducted 241 principals and 186 Vice principals alongside 10 Zonal Secretaries within the period under review. 

In another development, the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta (MAPOLY) stated that it generated over N754m revenue between January and June out of over N1.8bn approved budget target for the period. 

The Acting Rector of the institution, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji, who disclosed this while presenting the budget performance of the school added that the management also reconstructed the JAMB CBT centre as proposed in the budget. 

Responding, the Committee Chairman, Hon. Ademuyiwa advised the management of TESCOM and MAPOLY to avoid overshooting their budget heads, cautioning that spending outside the approved budget was contrary to the appropriation act. 

Others who presented their budget performance before the lawmakers included the D.S Adegbenro Polytechnic, Itori and the State Library Board.
