Coach Busari Targets Another Gateway FC Win Against Wikki Tourists In 2021 Aiteo Cup




Chief Coach of Gateway United,Hakeem Busari is optimistic of another historic win in the ongoing Aiteo Cup, when his side take on  Wikki Tourists of Bauchi, this Wednesday in the Nigeria's most prestigious football competition 

Gateway had earlier created a major upset in Abuja, after defeating Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) leaders, Akwa United of Uyo by a lone-goal last Wednesday courtesy of Julius Ikechukwu's 42nd minute goal to qualify for the next round of the competition

Busari still basking in the victory, expressed the confidence of recording win against another elite league side this 
Wednesday at 3pm, to surpass the team's best performance in 2014 when Gateway United defeated highy rated, Kano Pillars by a lone-goal to qualify for the quarter-finals before their eventual loss to Prime FC of Oshogbo now Osun United 

The tactician was speaking  after the routine warm up of the second tier team at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, venue of the round of 16 clash 
"We will keep taking it one step after the other, but our aspiration is on surpassing expectations and making our fans and the good people of Ogun State prouder of this impressive run", he said

 "We are aware of the task ahead, Wikki was defeated on this ground on Sunday by Rangers, so somehow they are more familiar with the turf than us as it were, but that's inconsequential. We will give it our best shot like we always do,"Busari assured 

"Being an NPFL side already makes them favourites, and us, underdogs. Well, we leaving no stone unturned in our preparation. Therefore, when we file out against them tomorrow, it's with the best mentality. We definitely want to write history with this season's edition and make it our best finish, bettering the last 8 finish in 2014. I will repeat this again; I will rather want our result speak for us", he concluded.
