Ogun Assembly Holds Public Hearing On LG Amendment Bill,Traditional Council Bill



Ogun State House of Assembly has concluded arrangement to hold its public hearing this Wednesday on a  bill seeking to amend the Local Government Law of 2006 and repositioning the Local Government Councils in the state for better performance

The house will hold another public hearing on Wednesday, next week July 14 on a Obas, Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council law of the state

The bill titled  "H.B. No. 069/ OG/ 2021- Obas, Chiefs, Council of Obas and Traditional Council law of Ogun State, 2021- is to provide for an approved method for the selection, appointment and recognition of Obas, Chiefs and Traditional Council in Ogun State and for purposes incidental and supplementary to them".

Clerk of the Assembly and Head of Legislative Services, ‘Deji Adeyemo, announced the two days in a statement made available to Edu-Biznews in Abeokuta on Monday

 He explained that the stakeholders’ forum on the Local Government (amendment) law was meant to harness input and contributions of all relevant stakeholders in the local government administration on how best to administer and reposition the councils for better performance. 

The release added that the stakeholders' forum on traditional council law would help offer input on how to redefine the traditional institution to reflect the current realities.

The public hearing, according to the statement, would take place on the aforementioned dates respectively at the State House of Assembly Complex, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta at 10:00am prompt, while all the stakeholders are enjoined to be seated by 9.30 am.
