Governor Dapo Abiodun has promised to extend his administration ongoing developmental projects to every part of the Ogun State, just as he assured that the 21 kilometers Ayetoro-Igan-Okoto-Iboro road in Yewa North Local Government Area would be completed soon
Abiodun who gave the reassurance after inspecting the ongoing reconstruction of Igan-Imere road in Ago-Iwoye, Ijebu North Local Government Area, said the choice of the road was chosen by the people, who see it as a priority.
He said the 1.8 kilometres road awarded to a local contractor from the area, was to ensure that the benefits trickled down to the immediate neighbourhood, as it engages youths during the construction.
His words,"In line with our approach to governance and for rapid infrastructural development which is determined by those who elected us into office, this Igan road was chosen by the good people of Ago–Iwoye. We did not sit in Abeokuta and decide which road to construct for them, the people decided that this road is of priority to them"
Abiodun noted that half of the road had been laid with asphalt and provided with drainage system, saying street lights would be installed to complement other facilities on the road.
Governor Abiodun who was also in Oru, said the seven kilometres Oru-Awa-Ilaporu bypass road was the second to be reconstructed in Ijebu North Local Government Area.
According to him,"Those coming from Ijebu-Ode to Ijebu-Igbo, don't need to go through Ijebu-Ode-Ibadan road before getting to Ijebu-Igbo, so it allows you to cut through from Oru, Awa and Ilaporu”
Meanwhile the Governor, has assured the people of Yewa North Local Government Area that the ongoing construction of 21 kilometers Ayetoro-Igan-Okoto-Iboro road would be commissioned soon.
Abiodun gave the assurance while speaking with newsmen after inspecting the road, saying it was divided into two phases, with the first phase in progress.
He said his administration awarded the contract for the construction of the second phase, to ensure even distribution of social amenities for the people, noting that the stone based work had been done and the job was progressing steadily.
“Work would have gone farther than now, but for the rain. I have directed the contractor to speed up work, hopefully, we will be back to commission it in another one month”, the Governor stated.
Abiodun noted that the construction of the road was as a result of his administration’s promise to the people, appealing to them to pay their taxes to enable government fulfill its obligations.
"I want to call on our people to please pay their taxes. Government have so many things to do but we need money. We have spent money in constructing houses, health facilities, roads and others. I promise that your money will be judiciously used", the Governor said.
