Ogun NUT Boss Rates Gov.Abiodun's Two Years Performance High In Education




Governor Dapo Abiodun's administration performance in the education sector in the past two years has received above average marks by the Ogun wing of the Nigeria Union of Teachers NUT

The union however stressed the need for the administration to give more attention to the welfare  of teachers in the next two years, to make its efforts so far, very effective in the sector  



The State Chairman of NUT, Comrade Abiodun Akinola in a chat with Edu-Biznews in Abeokuta, the state capital on Wednesday, scored 60percent within two years, particularly in the areas of provision of the needed Infrastructure, restoration of running costs to public primary and secondary schools and other Interventions

His words"Governor Dapo Abiodun, also a Comrade Governor has done so much for education in the past two years, before his administration teachers in the administrative cadre had not been enjoying running cost for schools but now they are getting running cost"

Akinola expressed the union's appreciation to the administration for its contributions to the ongoing yellow roof revolution in public primary and secondary schools with more schools being renovated and new block of Classrooms added in the state

"If you look at our infrastructure in  public schools across the state today, it has been given a facelift, talk of new construction of blocks of classrooms, renovation of classrooms, provision of furniture and above all, the payment of teachers' salaries, he has not failed us for once, although there  are shortcomings concerning global deductions from our salaries, teachers welfare should be given more attention in the next two years of the administration to make effort of government more effective",Akinola stated  

The NUT boss emphasised that the present decay in the infrastructure in public schools should not be blamed on 
the Abiodun's administration, saying the Abiodun has taken up the challenge to provide basic infrastructure in schools even in schools without descent blocks of Classrooms, particularly in some of part of the state including the Imeko- Afon area whose schools are being renovated 

He pointed that the Abiodun administration deserved commendation for its ongoing renovation of more schools"This administration has renovated a lot of our schools classr and still doing more across the state, so you can't for now assess the administration for what it has done, it is a continuous project, it has not completed its  assignment in the education sector, so we just have to appreciate him to do more"

The NUT Chairman equally noted the Abiodun's administration effort at digitalizing education sector, making textbooks accessible to pupils via the internet facilities and appreciating the contributions of teachers during the World Teachers by rewarding with cash and other gifts as well as initiating  Ogun Laurette Award, to appreciate teachers and students for their outstanding performances and encourage others to do more

Akinola also lauded the administration in ensuring security in schools, particularly the approval of two security personnel in each of the schools in the state but quickly added teachers, parents and students must play their roles, by being security concious to  compliment security measures put in place and make more effective
