Investment In Tourism Will Revive Nigeria's Economy- Ogun Tourism Commissioner

Ogun State Culture and Tourism Commissioner, Dr.Oluwatoyin Taiwo has identified tourism as a veritable investment portfolio with huge  potentials capable of increasing Nigeria's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and rejuvenating the country's ailing economy

The Commissioner urged investors to be wise and take advantage of the huge potentials by investing in the sector for a good return on their Investment

Taiwo was speaking  at the National Press Center, Abuja during the launch of a book titled; “First Nigeria Traveller’s Guide”, noting that tourism was a genuine way out of the general economic downturn, negative unpredictable fluctuations and uncertainty in global oil price and businesses, occasioned by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Commissioner disclosed that in realisation of this, the Ogun State government is working tirelessly on the discovery and development of aquatic tourist attraction sites, adding that these spirited-efforts were geared towards full realisation of the potentials and benefits of tourism.

His words, “Ogun State government is working tirelessly to revamp and develop the culture and tourism sector through appropriate policies, legislation, infrastructure, promotion and projects, while Public Private Partnership will be considered to develop tourist centres for optimum economic gains to the State”.

He  urged stakeholders in the sector to adopt effective and practicable policy formulation, engage in infrastructural development, encourage massive private sector involvement and ensure proper security measures, to advance tourism to the expected level.
