People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Ogun State has expressed concern over the continuous deduction of workers' salaries, without remittance to the appropriate quarters for the period of 15months by the State Government
The State Chairman of the party, Dr.Sikirulai Ogundele in a statement on Sunday in Abeokuta, described such unremitted deductions put at over N40billion by the Organized labour, as heartless for workers who worked so hard to save part of their monthly earnings, to meet various financial obligations to their families and banks.
PDP strongly support the position of the Organized Labour, calling for payment of gross salary instead of the net salary being paid to workers on the payroll of the State Government
The party according to Ogundele, "is also behind the Organized Labour's demand for upward review of the N500million quarterly release fund for payment of the outstanding gratuities of retirees at both the state and local government levels"
"PDP equally shares the belief of the labour that the Contributory Pension scheme in Ogun State is in comatose and the urgent need for the Dapo Abiodun's administration to remodel the scheme, so as not to put the retirement lives of workers in jeopardy
