Ogun State Government is shopping for prospective investors to partner with it in upgrading facilities at some of its tourist sites including, the Old Governor's Office in Abeokuta, the state capital and Yemoji Natural Pool in Ijebu-Ode
The State Culture and Tourism Commissioner, Dr.Taiwo Oluwatoyin who made this known in an exclusive chat with Edu-Biznews recently in Abeokuta, says government will be ready to enter into a Memoranda of Understanding (MOU) with investors in making the Yemoji Natural Pool in Ijebu-Ode and Old Governor's Office at the central business district of Abeokuta, a more befitting tourist sites
For instance, the State Government according to him, is working on the process of establishing a museum to be equipped with the necessary historical artifacts at the Old Governor's Office in Oke-Ilewo, Ibara area of the state capital
"We want to have a befitting Old Governor's Office,we want to have a museum. We are thinking of making the place look more attractive, is something we have inherited with historical facts,we are looking for investors, to upgrade the facilities", the Commissioner revealed.
On the Yemoji Natural Pool, he said that government was doing the access road to the tourist site while planning to dig the pool to expand the facility
His words" We want to dig the pool , we are actually looking for investors and we are ready to enter into MOU with them(investors) that will lead us to the expected target for the tourist site
Oluwatoyin added that the Prince Dapo Abiodun' administration in close to two years had renovated tourist sites across the four divisions of Egba, Remo, Ijebu- and Yewa axis to boost tourism potentials of the state and attract tourists and investors to the state
The Commissioner listed some of the tourist sites renovated to include Olumo-Rock, Kuti FamilyHeritage Museum, Nigeria's first hospital, "Sacred heart Hospital", all in Abeokuta, Nigeria's Second Storey building in Ota, Bilikisu $ugbon Shrine in Ijebu-Ode amongst others tourist sites
He assured pospective investors of great return on their investment in the tourism sector, saying the present administration remain committed to the promotion of culture and tourism and will always encourage public/private sector participation for the overall socio-economic benefits of the state
