A Darts player, Ololade Adeyemi has won Team Ogun's second Gold in 701 Female Event, admidst confussion on Thursday between the host Edo State Government and Federal Ministry of Youth and Sports Development over the continuity of the 20th National Sports Festival in Benin-City
Adeyemi beat Kwara and host Edo states who won silver and bronze respectively at the event at Imaguero College, Sapele Road, Benin City.
The team also won 3 bronze medals in badminton and scrabble to bring its total haul so far to 2 gold 1 silver and 7 bronze medals.
Another medal hopefuls for the team are in boxing, with 11 boxers in the semifinals of the boxing event of the games.
Meanwhile the State Commissioner for Youth and Sport, Dr Oluwadare Kehinde has charged athletes representing Ogun State at the ongoing National Sport Festival in Edo state to be good Ambassadors and put in their best in the competition as Ogun state is known for excellence which they should strive to maintain.
Kehinde gave the charge while paying a solidarity visit to the Camp of the Ogun State Contigents at the Aminu Kano Hall of the University of Benin, Benin City, Edo State.
He assured them that the State would definitely reward good efforts and encouraged the athletes to thrive for medals in their various sporting activities.
The Commissioner added that the State Government had released fund to cater for their welfare during the festival, saying all inadequacies currently being experienced will be addressed to make comfortable at the games
He revealed that arrangement had been concluded for the immediate payment of their Allownces which was delayed due to the Easter Holiday.
The Paralympic Athletes while appreciating the Commissioner's visit to the team's camp, appealed to the State Government to look into the issues of their Contracts as this will motivate them furthmore.
