Ogun State Government has commissioned N80m worth of Information Communication Technology (ICT) TETFUND projects at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Abeokuta
The projects include 280 sets of computer systems, generator, among others to boost the institution technologically.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, while commissioning the projects recently at the polytechnic's campus in Ojere, reiterated government's effort towards integrating technology into teaching and learning activities.
He pointed out that the provision of the equipment was apt at the time when virtual learning is the other of the day.
Arigbabu who applauded the initiative of the Institution’s management towards accessing the fund, said the use of technology in all sphere of human endeavour could not be over emphasised.
The Commissioner revealed that primary and secondary schools in the State would also be provided with adequate ICT equipment, as well as resource centre in each Local Government Area, to enable learners prepare adequately for the future.
"The importance of technology in teaching and learning could not be over emphasised, that is why the Governor has given us the mandate to ensure that even at our primary and secondary schools, there is need to intensify the use of technology", he said.
Acting Rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji speaking at the event, said that the project would not only help the students of the institution, but would be an advantage to the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) and other academic purposes.
Dr. Odedeji applauded the giant strides of the government towards ensuring that education take its priority, promising that the institution would continue to produce worthy ambassadors for the State.
