The new Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Honourable Akeem Balogun has described his election as divine intervention of God
The member representing Ogun Waterside Constituency was elected at the house plenary on Tuesday in Abeokuta, following the impeachment of Oludare Kadiri from the Ijebu-North II Constituency by 19members on Thursday,last week, after his indictment for gross misconduct in the report presented by the Ad-Hoc Committee set up by the Speaker, Right Honourable Olakunle Oluomo, to Investigate the allegation leveled him
Balogun in an exclusive chat with Edu-Biznews shortly after his emergence, says" My election is divined favour because I'm not better than any of the members eyeing the position from the same Ogun East Senatorial District. My Election as Deputy Speaker can be attributed to the will of God so to say. Divined Intervention of God".
The House Committee Chairman on Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs added that he was elected as consensus candidate because of the support and love of members who chose him as their preferred member for the position
He pledged to justify the confidence reposed in him, by carrying members along in the running of the house affairs as one of the principal officers, promising to bridge the gap among members while pledging his unalloyed support to the Speaker and ensure that the house leave Ogun State better than it met at the end of tenure of this legislature in 2023
Balogun described the Speaker as God fearing person who has been very supportive and whose leadership style has continued to ensure oneness of the house.
