Ogun State Government has vowed to retain its title as overall best in the Junior Engineering Technician and Science (JETS) competition among secondary schools in Nigeria.
Edu-Biznews recalled that Aishat Kareem of the Aminat International College, Gbonagun, Abeokuta led the state team comprising of three other students from Abeokuta Grammar School, Federal College of Education Model Secondary School, Osiele Abeokuta and Ambassador College,Ota to emerge as the winners of the competition a year ago
The State Education Science and Technology Commissioner, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu expressed the confidence of repeating the academic feat while witnessing the State competition of the Junior Engineering Technician and Science (JETS) among schools, at Abeokuta Grammar School, Idi-Aba.
He said that adequate preparation had been put in place to ensure that representatives of the State emerged again as the overall best.
Arigbabu assured that the government would continue to support and encourage its learners, to participate in academic competitions, in order to identify the best and explore their potentials.
The Commissioner who recalled that the state won 11 laurels in various competitions last year, noted that the schools in the state would continue to give quality teaching to produce excellent students.
"I want to assure you that we will give you the best support and encouragement needed to compete well and excel. l pray you will surpass whatever feat achieved in the State, as we do our best to prepare and nurture you for future endeavours", he said.
He added that engaging learners in relevant competitions would help task their brain for educational advancement, that would project the State in the front line among its peers in the country.
