NPFL:Kwara Utd Still Topping, After A Loss To Rangers



Kwara United of Ilorin are still at the summit of the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) with 21points, after suffering its second defeat on the road to Enugu Rangers in a week 11 match on Sunday.

Chiamaka Madu scored the only goal in the 30th minute of the thrilling encounter played at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium in Enugu.

With the result, Enugu Rangers are trailing closely behind in 4th position with 20points.

Also Kano Pillars who suffered similar defeat with the same margin to Lobi Stars in Makurdi, are in the 3rd position with 20points behind Enyimba International of Aba who are still in 2nd position with 21points with two outstanding matches to play

The Rejuvenated Abia Warriors continued with its impressive form, demolishing visiting Warri Wolves 4-1

Obioma's goal in the 27th  minute, a brace by Obaje in the stoppage time of the opening half and 67th minute and Samson's late goal in the 81st minute, ensured that Abia Warriors moved to 16th position with 12 points, away from the relegation zone

The result compounded the woes of Warri Wolves who are in the 19th position with just nine points just six points ahead of the bottom placed Adamawa United who were beaten two/nil on the road by MFM at the Agege Township Stadium in Lagos

In other matches played, Akwa United defeated Defending Champions, Plateau United by a loan-goal, Sunshine Stars of Akure and Heartland of Owerri, settled for a one-all draw, Jigawa Golden Stars narrowly defeated Nasarawa United by a lone-goal while FC Ifeanyi Ubah thrashed visiting Katsina United three/nil.
