Nigerian Communication Commission (NCC) has extended its ongoing National Identification Number and Subscriber Identity Module integration exercise by eight weeks.
With the fresh extension announced by the Federal Government on Tuesday morning, more Nigerians can link their National Identity Numbers with sims cards till April 6, 2021, when the excercise will end.
The Commission's Director, Public Affairs, Ikechukwu Adinde, who announced the extension in a WhatsApp message , said the extension was conveyed by the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami.
Pantami according to him, agreed on the new date, during a meeting of the Ministerial Taskforce on NIN-SIM registration held on Monday .
Edu-Biznews recalled that several Nigerians have been rushing to the offices of the National Identity Management System (NIMS) to meet up with the deadline by NCC, leading to serious congestion admidst increasing cases of coronavirus in new wave of the virus which forced the presidency to suspend the excercise at a time.
