Governor Dapo Abiodun and four other governors in the northern part of Nigeria will be meeting with stakeholders of the affected areas in Yewa axis of Ogun State,where farmlands and properties were destroyed by Suspected killler Herdsmen.
Abiodun during his visit and meeting with residents of Orile-Igbooro, Oja-Odan and other affected areas on Monday, announced the meeting today (Tuesday) with the governors including Abubakar Atiku Bagudu(Kebbi State),Abdullahi Ganduje (Kano State), Abubakar Sani Bello (Niger State) and Bello Muhammad Matawalle (Zamfara State).
His words" I have sought the Intervention of my colleagues from the north, some that have their indigenes that have been with us for so many years will join us in the stakeholders Forum"
The four governors had earlier met with their Oyo State counter-part, Seyi Makinde in Ibadan on Monday, following similar clashes between Yoruba and Hausa communities in the state , particularly bloody incident in Shasha area of the State capital, where houses and shops worth several millions destroyed.
Governor Abiodun assured farmers and residents whose farmlands and properties destroyed in the attack by killer Herdsmen, of adequate compensation, settlement of hospital bills of those injured while condemning the incident during the town-hall meeting at Orile-Igbooro and Oja-Odan in Yewa North Local Government Area of the State.
He expressed confidence that the stakeholders Forum would profer a lasting solutions to the incessant attack and douse the tension created by security situation in the axis
The Rampaging killer Herdsmen had in last few days maimed, killed destroyed properties in Eggua, Oja-Odan, Igan-Alade, Gbokoto, Ijoun , Owode-Ketu, Tata, Ebute Igbooro and Imeko-Afon areas in Yewa axis of Ogun State.
Responding to the tensed security situation which destrupted farming and commercial activities in the axis, Abiodun announced the immediate establishment of a Joint Security Task Force which includes military, police, Civil Defence Corps, Department of State Security Service (DSS) and local hunters to patrol the affected areas.
He added that patrol vehicles and other necessary equipment would be provided for the Joint Task Force for effective patrol and adequate security
The Governor was accompanied by the Olu of Ilaro and Paramount ruler of Yewa-land, Oba Kehinde Olugbenle , Eselu of Iselu, Oba Ebenezer Akinyemi and other monarchs.
