COVID-19:FG Approves N6.45Bn For Oxygen Plants



The Federal Government has approved N6.45 billion for the establishment of  Oxygen plants in 38 locations in Nigeria,as part of moves to enhance COVID-19 treatment.

Edu-Biznews recalled that Ogun State Government last week Monday, January 11,also announced the setting up of its Oxygen plant in Iberekodo area of Abeokuta, the state capital  

The State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Tomi Coker, explained that the Oxygen Therapy Center which sits within the Infectious Disease Hospital, Iberekodo, Abeokuta, consists of 20 beds of high dependency capacity

Nigeria's Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed revealed to newsmen in Abuja  on Thursday, that President Mohammadu Buhari at the National Economic Council Meeting, approved the release of the fund for setting up of the Oxygen plants in the country

Presidential Task Force PTF on COVID-19 had earlier on January 5, announced the presidential approval for the establishment of at least one oxygen plant in each of the 36 state.

The Minister explained that the release of the fund  for the production of oxygen became necessary, following continuous increased in the number of patients who need oxygen due to the surge in COVID-19 infection .
