XMAS:No Break For Waste Collectors-Ogun Govt




Ogun State Waste Management Authority (OGWAMA) has asked Operators of waste management companies to forget going on break on Christmas day, this Friday and New year  day ,next week Friday, to ensure roads in the state, are kept clean during the festive period.

The Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment and the Chief Executive Officer of  OGWAMA, Mr. Ola Oresanya, gave the directive in Abeokuta at a recent meeting with waste operators in the state .

 Oresanya explained that the decision was taken by government, in order for operators to tackle upsurge in waste management in the state, during such festive season.

He directed them to shelve any pre-planned break to tackle upsurge in waste, in the interest of the State and their businesses.

His words "You must also be at your best by devising more waste management strategies to move waste faster from households and carnival grounds, so that streets and public places are sparkling clean during these twin celebrations",

Oresanya who said that their performances would be used to measure work effectiveness for the outgoing year, counselled them to put in their best to justify the confidence government repose in them.

Responding, the Secretary of the PSP Operators in the State, Mr. Femi Okulalu, promised member’s readiness for the special end of year assignment and sought resident’s support through dropping of wastes in covered bins and other designated places for easy evacuation.
