Ogun State Government has asked owners of private schools to compliment effort aimed at further improvement of standard of educational system in the State.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Professor Abayomi Arigbabu made the call in Abeokuta while hosting in his office ,top officials of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) who paid him a recent congratulatory visit.
He said education standard could be improved if the association do what was expected of them, such as payment of renewal fees and filling of data forms.
Arigbabu assured that government on its part would continue to formulate qualitative educational policies and programmes, inline with the global best practices to make education in the state competes favourably with the best in the world.
The Commissioner called on individuals and corporate organisations to support the government in achieving its desired goals in the education sector.
“I need to state here that it becomes the duties of both the government and the association to monitor and maintain educational standard, as well as ensuring quality delivery of teaching and learning in schools",he stated.
"The State Government desires quality that will correspond with international standards and we must achieve it together.", Arigbabu added.
He stressed the need for Operators of private schools to always see themselves as partners in progress to ensure smooth running of the sector in the state.
His words "We must look at issues and solve them together. We're suppose to be partners in progress and on our part as government, we are going to make sure schools are upgraded. For smooth operations, you need to pay your renewal fees and ensure timely response to data submission as requested by the ministry"
Permanent Secretary in the ministry, Mrs. Abosede Ogunleye emphasised the need for regular , dialogue which is key in attaining the desired standard in the education Sector.
She assured private school owners in the state of the ministry's readiness to receive and attend to issues bothering them.
The President, NAPPS, Dr. Lawrence Olumide appreciated the Governor Dapo Abiodun, for listening to their agitations by appointing an education expert as the Commissioner.
He therefore advised that for standard to be improved and desired change to be initiated, government must consider and address problems facing the sector.
