Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved recruitment of 1,655 teachers into the Ogun State Teaching Service, to address the shortage in the public secondary schools in the state.
Chairman of the State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Envg. Ifede Olamilekan who revealed the approval during a treasury board meeting for the 2021 budget proposal in Abeokuta, said the recruitment would boost manpower in the education sector.
He appealed to the governor to also look into the issue of provision of vehicles for easy monitoring of schools by the commission , particularly in the rural areas.
The TESCOM chairman appreciated the governor for the approval of N22.757 billion as its budget proposal for the next fiscal year.
He assured the governor of the board members' readiness to meet up with the targeted Internally Generated Revenue (IGR), for the year 2021, as well as achieve the set goals of the Commission.
