FIFA Suspends CAF President Over Alleged Corruption



President of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) ,Ahmad Ahmad is now under suspension by FIFA for five years for alleged corruption including mismanagement of funds and abused of office.

The world football  governing body announced the suspension of Ahmad on Monday

The suspension is now a big blow to the re-election bid of Ahmad from Madagascar who had been in charged of CAF since March 2017.

FIFA in a statement said that Ahmad had “breached his duty of loyalty, offered gifts and other benefits, mismanaged funds and abused his position as the CAF President”.

Ahmad according to the statement, has  been fined 200,000 Swiss francs ($220,000) by FIFA for the misdeeds.

He was indicted of using the organisation resources to finance an Umrah pilgrimage to Mecca” as well as involving himself in CAF’s dealings with a sports equipment company.
