The Ogun State Government is proposing N2.6billion to prepare a new master plan , regenerate slum areas, monitor new structure springing up rapidly and embark on aggressive public enlightment campaign, to ensure a more orderly and aesthetically pleasing environment across the state.
The Dapo Abiodun administration expressed its committment to physical planning and urban development in the State
The State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development, Tpl. Tunji Odunlami made this known at the recent 2021 Treasury Board meeting, at Oba’s Complex, Oke-Mosan in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Odunlami while presenting the performance of the ministry’s 2020 budget, said as at October, the Ministry had generated N215m representing 52.6 percent of the revenue generation, adding that the old agency, Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority generated N1.2B representing 84 percent of the revenue target,.
The Commissioner assured that by December, the Agency would have generated more revenue to boost its Internally Generated Revenue.
Breaking down the proposed budget for the ministry in 2021, he says the Ministry is proposing to spend the sum of N1.3b, while Ogun State Planning and Development Permit Authority will gulp N640m.
Odunlami highlighted some of the project to be undertaken in the next fiscal year to include; preparation of Master Plan, purchase of operational vehicles and its maintenance for easy mobility, among others.
He explained that the budget for Slum Regeneration Authority and Building Production Management Authority proposed N677.3m for Capital expenditure and Recurrent expenditure, saying the budget was for the new agencies to take off.
Governor Dapo Abiodun represented by his deputy, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele urged the Commissioner and the entire Ministry to put in more effort at ensuring that necessary monitoring is carried out, to curb illegal development and prevent the old towns from degenerating into slums.
