Lagos Govt.To Re-open Schools On Monday

The Lagos State Government has directed the re-opening of schools for all classes in public and private schools across the State beginning from Monday next week, 2nd of November, 2020, 

The re-opening follows the return of normalcy in the state, after the #EndSARS protest and continuous flatten of curve in the spread of Coronavirus pandemic in Nigeria .

The schools were shutdown last week as a result of tensed security situation caused by the nationwide #EndSARS protest, particularly in the state.

Pupils in boarding facilities in public schools are to resume on Sunday, 1st of November ahead of the re-opening.  

The State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Folasade Adefisayo who announced the re-opening on Thursday in a statement by the Head Public Affairs of the Ministry, Kayode Abayomi, described 2020 as an unprecedented year .

" This has been an unprecedented year with the recent happenings that have regrettably led to frequent closure of schools with attendant learning disruptions faced by all children", she stated .

“We pray and hope that there will be no more disruptions in the academic calendar. the Commissioner said.

She however, assured that the State Government would always  regard the safety of pupils/students, parents and all staff as a matter of priority.

Her words “We recommend that when schools resume on Monday, teaching and learning should continue unhindered till the end of the term.” .

The Commissioner also enjoined pupils/students to take their studies more seriously in a bid to recover the lost period and thereby excel.

The State Government had earlier ordered full re-opening of markets for normal commercial activities, following the continuous flatten of curve in the spread of Coronavirus in the country.
