The Ogun State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Mr. Olaolu Olabimtan, has been awarded the ‘Prestigious Anti-Corruption Leadership Award’ and ‘IT Ambassador of The Year’, for his outstanding commitment and contribution to the present government’s sound financial management, fiscal transparency, economic reforms and latest Information Technology policies, under the administration of the State Executive Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Both awards were presented differently to the Commissioner by the Fight Against Corruption Organisation (FACO), based in Abuja and Nigeria Computer Society (NCS), Ogun State Chapter, during its Ogun State IT Merit Award Programme with the theme; ‘Harnessing Digital Innovation for Sustainable Development’, held in Abeokuta.
Presenting the first award, the FACO Chairman, Dr. Francis Shopekan, said the organisation’s affiliation with the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offenses Commission (ICPC) and other similar agencies, enabled proper survey gathering and special feelers towards curbing corruption in the society and government.
He commended the current administration of Governor Abiodun, saying the Ogun State Fiscal Responsibility Law, patterned along global best practices earned transparency and credibility to the administration in allocation of State’s resources.
Dr. Shopekan, noted the outstanding contributions of Olabimtan’s financial management abilities in the forward-looking administration as a criterion for the laudable anti-corruption laurel awarded him.
On his part, the Chairman NCS, Ogun State Chapter, Olatunde Tijani, said the current administration’s effort and drive in adopting digital inclusion in various socio-economic development areas brought more progress to the state.
He affirmed that NCS would continue to strengthen partnership with the State government as a key stakeholder, to enhance impact of IT professionalism in the State.
Responding, Mr. Olabimtan,, the awardee gave kudos to the Executive Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for the opportunity given to him to serve and his strong support for the team in his people-inclusive government programmes and policies.
He expressed his appreciation for the remarkable laurels and dedicated the awards to the management and staff of the Ministry for their resilience whenever challenges arose.
