President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State have congratulated Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo on his re-election as Governor of Anambra State.
Soludo was returned for a second term in office after recording a landslide victory, winning all 21 local government areas in the election, according to results declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Sunday.
The massive victory makes the professor the third governor in Anambra’s political history to win a second term.
President Tinubu in a statement he personally signed, described Soludo’s re-election as a testament to his visionary leadership and the significant progress recorded under his administration.
Tinubu said Governor Soludo demonstrated that academic principles can be applied in serving the people by ensuring accountability, transparency and prudency in the management of their resources
He however urged Soludo to be magnanimous in victory by seeking the cooperation of his opponents in the just-concluded election.
“Governor Soludo, the Solution, has demonstrated that knowledge is indeed power and that academic principles can be applied in serving the people, undergirding accountability, transparency, and prudent management of people and resources".
“I visited Anambra State in May this year, where I inaugurated some projects executed by the Soludo administration. I highlighted the good thinking behind the landmark projects embarked upon by Mr Solution. That experience is indeed remarkable and will remain indelible in my mind.
“I commend Governor Soludo for bringing discipline, grace, brilliance, and a fresh perspective to governance in Anambra. Under him, Anambra is living up to its motto as the Light of the Nation.
“I urge Governor Soludo to be magnanimous in victory and to seek the cooperation of his opponents in the just-concluded election.
Similarly, Ogun State Governor and Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, Prince Dapo Abiodun, congratulated the governor on his re-election.
Soludo, candidate of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), was declared winner of the Anambra governorship election held on Saturday, after polling 422,664 out of 584,054 valid votes across the state’s 21 local government areas, according to results released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). His closest rival, Nicholas Ukachukwu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), scored 99,445 votes, while the ADC and PDP candidates polled 8,208 and 1,401 votes respectively.
In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Strategy, Hon. Kayode Akinmade, Governor Abiodun said the outcome of the election clearly demonstrated the confidence the people of Anambra repose in Soludo’s leadership.
“With the results of Saturday’s election, the people of Anambra State spoke in clear, unmistakable terms, affirming their belief in the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo,” Abiodun said.
He congratulated Soludo, who also serves as Vice Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum, urging him to sustain his policy direction and continue delivering development-driven governance.
He further encouraged Soludo to unify political interests across the state for inclusive growth.
Abiodun also commended Soludo for maintaining a cordial working relationship with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, urging him to continue upholding the principles of democracy and good governance.
