Ogun Govt Charges Parents To Support Children's Learning In School

 

Ogun State Government has charged parents and care givers in the State to complement the efforts of the government in the education sector, by providing essential necessities for their children such as, school bags, uniforms, sandals and books.

The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu gave the charge during the Pre-resumption Stakeholders Meeting with Old Student Association and Parents Club saying the present administration in the State has made proactive efforts towards ensuring that learners were nurtured with the best of academic nutrients, urging parents to attend to the mental health of their wards by feeding them well and pay attention to their body reactions.

"The Prince Dapo Abiodun's administration have initiated different interventions, such as edu-cash where money was being given to students from elementary up to University level to cushion the effects of economy on learners and parents, but that does not stop parents from taking adequate responsibilities on their children," he said.

He intimated that there are 12 Mega Smart Classrooms, 3 in each of the four regions in the State, to be equipped with modern facilities where other schools can also assess to enhance their technological innovation skills.

In his remarks, Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (Ogun SUBEB), Evangelist Olalekan Ifede, enjoined parents to also adopt Old Student Association and School Base Management Committee in their primary schools to build a formidable elementary school system.

Earlier, Permanent Secretary in the Education Ministry, Mrs. Oluwatosin Oloko, said that with the support of the Old Student Association, learners performance have improved as education is being upgraded to higher standards in the State, appreciating Parents Club for their unflinching support in repositioning the education sector.

Speaking, Principal General of Remo Division of the State, Dr. Olubunmi Womiloju and the President, All Nigeria Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Mr. Adeyinka Adekoya, noted that the meeting was crucial to the smooth running of the schools, applauding stakeholders for helping the government to provide conducive environment for learning.

Attendees expressed their gratitude to the government for its proactiveness and investment in education.
