The management of University of Lagos (UNILAG) has commissioned 10 units of posh, smart reading booths at the Main Library of the university, as part of strategic moves to further enhance reading and learning environments for its students on campus
Vice-Chancellor , Professor Folasade Ogunsola, flanked by other members of the University management team, commissioned the new facilities on Monday August 18, 2025
The project according to her, demonstrates the university’s commitment to making the library a vibrant hub for discoveries, explorations, and continuous learning.
She applauded the University Librarian, Prof. Olatokunbo Okiki, and his team for their efforts in transforming the library into a 21st-century facility.
Her words, “… with the reforms and continuous upgrades, the University of Lagos Library would continuously enjoy more influx of users thereby guaranteeing optimization of facilities, encouraging intellectual collaboration and upholding the culture of academic excellence”.
Similarly, the University Librarian, Professor Olatokunbo Okiki described the project, as an extension of the Library Maker–Space which was commissioned on November 14, 2023.
Prof. Okiki said the Explore Seat Pods are designed as a smart space to offer more focused and personalized spaces to users for learning, deep thinking, reading, exploration and discovery. He added that, “…the new facility will foster creativity and collaboration while providing a modern space where users can study smarter, think deeper, and connect better…”
The Explore Seat Pods offer a blend of academic atmosphere and modern comfort, to foster creativity and collaboration, enabling users to “study smarter, think deeper, and connect better.”
Designed, executed, and delivered by The Eureka Consults within two months, the Explore Seat Pods add a fresh touch of comfort and innovation to the library’s evolving facilities.
These pods provide a modern space where users can study smarter, think deeper, and connect better.
