Governor Dapo Abiodun, has approved the appointment of Mr. Olubori Akinleye as the new Board Secretary of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB)
His appointment comes on the heels of the statutory retirement of the former Board Secretary, Dr. Mukaila Lawal, in May 2025.
The State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya who announced the appointment in a statement obtained by Edu-Biznews on Friday, explained that the appointment was made by the Governor, in accordance with the provisions of the Ogun State Universal Basic Education Board Law, 2005 and with due recourse to the pool of Directors who were successful in the Ogun State Executive Leadership Pipeline Development Programme conducted for management level Officers to be eligible for appointment into top echelon positions in the State Civil/Public Service.
The statement noted that prior to the appointment of Mr. Akinleye as the Board Secretary, he was on the post of Assistant Director (Education) serving as TVET Specialist at the Ogun State Technical and Vocational Education Board.
It further stated that, he holds a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Technical Education (Automobile Technology) from the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, Lagos in 1992 and a Bachelor of Science (Education) Degree in Industrial Technical Education (Automobile) from the University of Benin in 1997.
He joined the Ogun State Civil Service in June, 2007 following his inter-State transfer from Lagos State and rose through the ranks to the post of Assistant Director (Education), GL. 15 effective 1st July, 2019.
Mr. Akinleye is a seasoned Education Officer with extensive experience in the education sector having served in different capacities and Departments under the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
He has been enjoined to demonstrate exemplary leadership, dedication and professionalism in his new role while contributing meaningfully to the ongoing implementation of the Building Our Future Together_’ Agenda of the present administration.
It will be recalled that the State House of Assembly recently approved Governor Abiodun's nominees as the State SUBEB new Board members with Evangelist Joshua Ifede as Chairman
