Severally Muslim faithfuls who thronged Lantoro Central Eid Ground In Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital to observe the two rakats prayer on Sunday, were disappointed as the leadership of Muslim ummah failed to hold the prayer as expected to mark the end of this year's Ramadan fasting and commencement of month of Shawwal , 1446 A.H
The main entrance to the Eid-Ground, where top officials of Ogun State Government usually have access to front row arrangement, was shutdown to worshippers while those who passed through other entrance as early as 8:30 am into the ground left home unhappy with the situation
Sultan of Sokoto and President General of Nigeria Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs, Alhaji Mohamed Sa'ad Abubakar had late last night on Saturday in a special broadcast, announced the end of Ramadan fasting and commencement of Shawwal, declaring this Sunday, 30th of March, 2025 for the celebration of Eid-el-Fitri
But the GrandChief Imam of Egbaland, Sheikh Mohammed Sa'ad Bamgbola , it was learnt, said that the Eid would hold on Monday , 31st of March, as directed by the League of Imams and Alfas in South West region of the country, inspite of the broadcast by the Sultan on Saturday
Eid-prayers were held in several other parts of the ancient city including Adatan, Albakar Society in Abiola way and NAJOMO in Asero amongst areas
