Ogun Muslim Council Egba Zone Decorates Olowu, Oba Matemilola As Royal Grand Patron, Others As Royal Patrons, Patrons, Patroness..Seeks Support For Construction Of Islamic Centre




Egba Zone of the Ogun State Muslims Council has decorated the Olowu of Owu-Abeokuta kingdom Oba (Prof) Saka Adelola Matemilola as its Royal Grand Patron, leading other prominent Muslims who were decorated with medals as Royal Patrons, Patrons and Patroness 

The colourful well attended investiture and inauguration held over the weekend at main auditorium of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL) in Abeokuta, the State capital, also featured formal unveiling and launching of an ultra modern two storey Islamic Centre complex strategically located on landed property worth over N6million at Eleyele town in Ewekoro Local Government Area 

Olu Of Eleyele town and Sultan of Owu Kingdom, Oba (Dr.) Moshood Ola Yusuf along with Olu of Itori, Oba Abdulfatai Akamo, Alawowo of Awowo Land, Oba Abdul-Gafari Tijani and Olu of Afowowa Sogaade land, Oba Hamzat Umar were also inaugurated as Royal Patrons of the Egba zone of the State Muslims Council 

Similarly on the roll call of prominent Muslims decorated as patrons for the zone include former governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun, Baba Adinni of Yorubaland , Edo and Delta , Ambassador Sarafa Tunji Ishola  , National Vice -President of Ansar-Ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Alhaji (Chief) J.A Popoola, Balogun of Egbaland and Apase of Egba Muslim Community, Alhaji (Chief) Sikiru Atobatele, Baba Adinni of Egbaland, Chief Abdul Rasheed Adisa Raji and Bada Adinni of Egbaland, Alhaji (Chief) Muibudeen Adekunle alongside Iya Sunna of Egbaland and Ogun State ,Alhaja (Chief) Khadijat Adebisi Edionsere and Iya Adinni of Egbaland, Alhaja Monsurat Bankole who were inaugurated as patroness 




The Olowu of Owu-Abeokuta shortly after his inauguration as Royal Grand Patron, admonished Muslims to always use their wealth, knowledge and resources to propagate Islam while pledging on behalf of other Royal Patrons, Patrons and Patroness to ensure the completion of the Islamic Centre within the next one year 




Equally, the Olu of Eleyele who personally donated the over N6 million landed property for the construction of the multi-purpose complex , announced additional donations of a million naira for a start 

The Ekerin Musulumi of Egbaland who also announced another one million donated by Baba Adinni of Owu Kingdom, Alhaji Chief (Dr.) Ismail Akindele, urged other Muslims to contribute the needed financial resources for the completion of the centre, describing those in charge of the project fund as people with high integrity 







Nigeria's immediate past High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafa Tunji Isola , Sen. Shuaib Afolabi Salisu representing Ogun Central at the Nigerian Senate and former governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosun represented by Alhaji Gomez all announced personal donation of a million naira each for a start, assuring the Egba zone of OMC of the completion of the project 

President-General of the Ogun State Muslim Council and Awujale of Ijebu land,  Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona commended the leadership of Egba zone of the council for the initiative aimed at strengthening the realization of OMC's objectives 

Awujale represented by the Secretary-General of the State Muslim Council, Asiwaju Kamal'deen Akintunde, Esq. rallied support for the construction and completion of the Islamic Centre 








The monarch who stressed the importance of traditional rulers in the nation-building , particularly in the enhancement of the growth of a society, commended the Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodima-led Committee efforts in the ongoing Constitutional amendment for roles for traditional rulers as custodians of values and customs 

Also Chairman of the Egba zone of OMC , Alhaji (Chief) Abdul-Hakeem Tunji Kalejaiye in his welcome speech high lighted the features of the Islamic Centre which included Mosque , school, event centre , and Secretariat 

The Alafin Adinni of Egbaland appealed to Muslims to donate generously towards the construction and completion of the project, assuring them of judicious utilization of the fund 







" I want to assure all our guests that any money or materials donated would be spent and utilized wisely and would be accounted by the special grace of Allah", he assured 

Guest Speaker, Sheikh Sulaiman Faruq Onikijipa speaking on the theme of the investiture and inauguration, "The Unity of Muslims: Tool For The Advancement Of Islam, stressed the importance of Muslims speaking with one voice in order to be relevant in the scheme of politics with economy of Nigeria as a country 













The event attracted top Islamic clerics including the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Alhaji (Chief) Sa'adallah Alade Bamgbola, , Chief Imam of Owu, Alhaji Sulaimon Kehinde, Chief Imam of Oke-Ona, Alhaji Musiliudeen Nosir and that of Gbagura, Prof.(Sheikh) Kamal-Deen Balogun , Vice President of State Muslim Council, Egba zone, Hon.Justice Gabziu Demola Bakre (retired) , members of Federation of Muslim Women's Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN) led by its Ogun State Amirah, Alhaja Zainab  Jinadu, Amirah -General , Islamic Mission for Africa (IMA) , Alhaja (Chief) Amatullah Ajibola amongst other dignitaries
