Ogun Govt Asks MDAs To Adopt Revised Medium Term Sector Strategy For More Effective Service Delivery

Ogun State Government has asked its Ministries, Departments and Agencies, (MDAs) to key into the revised 2024-2026 Medium Term Sector Strategy, (MTSS), so as to enable them fasttrack socio-economic growth and provide more effective service delivery that will have meaningful impact on lives of the people in the state

The State Commissioner for Budget and Planning, Hon. Olaolu Olabimtan, made the call in Abeokuta during the First Quarter Performance Review meetings with the concerned sectors, involving Permanent Secretaries, Directors of Planning, Research and Statistics, Accounting Officers, as well as Monitoring and Evaluation Officers from Health, Education, Housing and Community, Agriculture and Industries, Recreation, Culture and Religion, Infrastructure, Social Protect Judiciary, General Public Service, Economic Affairs and other sectors

He urged  them to engage more in activity-based projects and avoid zero-performance budgetary impact.

ByOlabimtan enjoined them to consider the current global economic challenges and adopt the MTSS as the best practice, whereby all intended activities or projects for execution would be prioritised, to avoid duplication under the deliverable revised MTSS template in the face of limited resources and harsh economic indices.

“Run MTSS as an indicator by following a new process of policy direction showing the impact of government’s activities on the socio-economic lives of the people; engage in regular meetings, in order to present worthy quarterly repor ts, to indicate outcomes and impacts of services, unlike the conventional budgeting models, which come up with lists without execution of framework and required strategies”, he said.

The Commissioner noted that current MTSS template would identify gaps in the execution of capital expenditure, outline the deliverable implementation of policy context, highlight astute planning and budgeting, ensure proper Monitoring and Evaluation as well as create feedforward and feedback to identify meaningful impacts of the qualitative services to the people.

He tasked all sectorial committee chairmen and secretaries to actively conduct regular monthly meetings and submit the Quarterly Sector Performance Report of the 2024-2026 MTSS to the Ministry, to sustain the positive impacts on the citizenry.

In their separate remarks, representatives of various MDAs commended the Commissioner for his insightful briefs, promising to adhere to the MTSS context to achieve success in their MDA’s goals and objectives, towards ensuring an improved economy.

On her part, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry, Mrs. Olufunmilayo Dada, advised Heads of Sector Committees to work in line with MTSS contents, to provide better services for the people in the state.
