Appeal Court Begins Sitting In Abeokuta On Over 100 Cases From Ogun

The Ibadan Division of Court of Appeal has temporary relocated to Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, where the appellate court is handling backlog of over 100 cases which emanated from the State

Already four panels are presently sitting with three panelists each at the Judiciary Complex in Kobape on the outskirts of Abeokuta 

The court is using the period, which it described as intervention week to handle the cases constituting 80 per cent of cases before the court from the State 

The intervention week will hold for three days between tuesday and thursday

The State commissioner for justice, Mr Oluwasina Ogungbade speaking with newsmen on the development, said that  the  cases which are mostly on commercial activities , constituted the bulk of cases before the appellate the court which explained the reason for temporary relocation of the court from Ibadan in Oyo State to Ogun State

"Statistically it shows that bulk of cases handled by the ibadan division of court of appeal emanates from ogun state, its long due for ogun state to have its own division of court of appeal", he stated
