President-General of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) and Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has asked Muslims to continue fasting, declaring Wednesday as the first of Shawwal and Eid day, commemorating the completion of the 2024 Ramadan fast.
The Deputy Secretary-General, NSCIA, Prof. Salisu Shehu announced this in a statement on Monday night, following non-sighting of the moon as expected, automatically extending the fasting till Tuesday, making it 30 days of fasting for the 1445 Ramadan
The new crescent according him,was not sighted in the Kingdom on Monday.
