The Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland,Oba (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo has expressed support for the Ogun State Government's initiative to holistically transform the Government Reservation Area at Ibara in Abeokuta, the state capital and others across the state to bring back the faded glory.
The monarch made the pledge at a sensitisation talk, organised by the Ministry of Housing and led by its Commissioner, Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi for Egba Traditional Council, at the Alake's palace, Ake in Abeokuta, to intimate them about the GRA Regeneration Scheme
Alake, who expressed his delight about the project promised that Egba indigenes, home and in the diaspora would be encouraged to participate in the new scheme.
"I am very excited today because of the project you brought to me, you can count on my support. I just don't support, but I realised the development that the project will bring to Egba land. I'm sure with the location of the project, the housing unit to be built will be over subscribed", Alake submitted
The monarch further implored the State Government to allocate the third phase of the Prince Court Estates in kobape and Kemta Idi -Aba to the remaining successful applicants, to meet up with their housing challenge.
The State Housing Commissioner had earlier during the meeting with the traditional council members, reeled out the successes recorded in the provision of affordable housing to the people of the State, saying the response received from people prompted government to continue to build more housing units for various categories.
He emphasised that the new GRA Regeneration Scheme was meant to create to a modern , vibrant smart city.
" The program is not merely about demolishing and reconstructing, It will bring a total transformation geared towards enhancing economic value of the State".
He assured that bareen unforseen circumstances, the project would be completed within 18 months, adding that it would also create employment benefits with the engagement of artisans within the community.
Speaking on behalf of the Traditional Council, the duo of Asiwaju OnimoEro and OnimoEro of Egbaland, Engr .Chief Tokunbo Odebunmi and Engr. Chief Adeniyi Akanni appreciated the government under the leadership of Prince Dapo Abiodun for taking the bull by the horn with the GRA Regeneration Scheme, advising the government to be transparent about the project.
