Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has concluded arrangements to partner with the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NICRIB), for improved revenue generation and to provide value for money paid by motorists in getting insurance papers.
The Executive Chairman, OGIRS, Mr. Olugbenga Olaleye who revealed this
during a courtesy visit of the National President of NICRIB, Mr. Babatunde Adeleke and his team to OGIRS Headquarters in Abeokuta, was full of appreciation for the proposal, saying it would provide avenue for the agency to access more data for expanding its tax net.
"This is a welcome move; data at the insurance purview can be accessed, especially in the area of withholding and personal income taxes, as this will translate to increased revenue for the state government"
"Presently, the E-third Party Insurance platform is running in the state and we are not having issues with payment of relevant claims. This proposal will be looked into to harness other potentials available’’, he said.
Earlier, the NICRIB President, while decrying that a larger percentage of motorists plying the state roads do not insure their vehicles, enthused that the partnership would give motorists value for their money and encourage motorists to insure their vehicles, thereby boosting revenue generation.
Other members of the team include, NICRIB Executive Secretary, Mr. Tope Adaramola; Area Committee Chairman of Lagos axis, Mr. Ademola Olutusi and the Protocol Manager, Aderonke Osho.
