Ogun State Government has earmarked a sum of N209,122.60billion for rehabilitation and completion of some of its major industrial roads including the long awaited dilapidated Lagos-Ota-Abeokuta Road as well as the ongoing Atan-Lusada-Agbara Road and other critical roads in 2024 fiscal year
Governor Dapo Abiodun during his recent 2024 Budget presentation before members of the State House of Assembly during plenary in Abeokuta, said the amount which represents 30 percent of the N703.03billion budget size, was to ensure timely completion of the major industrial roads and other infrastructural development to support the State's Economic Development Clusters,
ahead of the 22nd National Sports Festival to be hosted in the state, come 2024
He identified other roads to be given serious attention in the coming fiscal year, to include Ofada-Owode Road, Lagos Garage-Ikangba-Ilese Road, Ota-Itele-Ayobo Road, Ita-Oshin, Ibara-Orile, Ijoga Orile- Ibooro-Imasayi Road, OPIC Estate Internal Roads all of which amounted to 250km in all the three Senatorial Districts.
He listed some of the major achievements in the year 2023, saying his administration has brought development to every ward in the 20 Local Government Areas of the State.
His words,"Across the three Senatorial Districts of the state, we have constructed, reconstructed, and rehabilitated over 500 kilometers of roads, notable among them in the Ogun Central Senatorial district is the 45KM Sagamu Interchange-Siun-Abeokuta Expressway, now renamed the Muhammadu Buhari Expressway”.
Abiodun described the various infrastructural developments across the State as a marvel of engineering that ensures both pleasurable and timely safe driving experiences as well as improved productivity.
He opined that in the Ogun East Senatorial district, his administration had developed the 14km Ijebu-Ode-Epe-Mojoda expressway, connecting Ogun to Lagos State and stimulating industrial growth in the area, noting that the road serves as an evacuation corridor for all the industries within Lekki Free Trade Zone and the Epe corridor in Lagos State.
Governor Abiodun added that in Ogun West Senatorial District, the ongoing construction of the 19km Atan-Lusada-Agbara expressway will be accelerated to ensure speedy completion, to further facilitate access to the Agbara Industrial Estate, the largest industrial Estate in West Africa.
He expressed confidence that all the roads when completed would stand the test of time
