Ogun Govt Approves Employment OF Security Guards For Schools

Ogun State Government has approved the employment of security guards for the public primary and secondary schools, to tackle the challenges of indiscriminate trespassing, burglars and vandalism in and around the school environments.

The State  Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu made this known in Abeokuta, while playing host to the newly elected executive of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) Ogun State Chapter.

Arigbabu said the step was to further ensure security of lives and property in schools, as well as create a more conducive academic atmosphere for teaching and non-teaching staff and learners.

The Commissioner stated that the Prince Dapo Abiodun–led administration was committed to sustaining a high standard of education in the State, noting that regular training and retraining of teachers had been taken with utmost priority, to make them more efficient in the discharge of their duties.

He said, "when this administration came on board, the monthly running cost to schools was increased, to make administration easier for the school heads, and I am assuring you that I will not rest on my oars to keep working at ensuring continuous prompt payment".

Arigbabu urged them to continue to support the government in its bid to take education to higher pedestal for them to enjoy more welfare packages for their upliftment.

He commended the new ASUSS executive for their doggedness in coordinating the teaching force in the State, towards improving academics in public schools, promising that the current government would work out modalities to recruit more teachers to fill up the existing vacancies.

Speaking earlier, Chairman of the Association, Comrade Dr. Felix Agbesanwa said the visit was to intimate the Commissioner about the emergence of the new executive, affirming that the State’s education sector had experienced tremendous transformation, especially on the introduction of Ogun State Education Revitalisation Agenda (OGSERA).
