Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has charged old students associations of public secondary schools to support his administration's committment to provision of qualitative education, by investing in development of infrastructure of their schools for the benefit of the students
Governor Abiodun who made the call on Tuesday at a public lecture organized by the old students association of the Babtist Boys High School, Abeokuta BBHS to mark the Centenary Anniversary of the school, also asked prospective investors and public spirited individuals to come and partner with the State Government to further lift the standard of education in the state
While noting that the provision of quality education is the responsibility of all stakeholders in the state, he added that his administration recognized that education was the heart of national development.
Abiodun who noted that his administration had rehabilitated over one thousand schools, added that for the first time in the history of the state, his government was also able to employ over 5,000 teachers to continue to reduce the teacher to student ratio.
The Governor who also added that his administration introduced the Ogun State Education Management Information System which according to him, has allowed his administration to digitalize not just curriculum but the entire public school system, as regards the management of students through assigning of a Learner Identification Number to every student in the state.
Abiodun however also called on the old students of the school to go out and get their permanent voter's card and exercise their franchise during the forthcoming general elections.
In his remarks, the Alake and Paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo who noted that discipline at the school was top notch, added that the school which was built on a strong religious background was at the same time tolerant.
