Ogun State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has met with its Principal-Generals in the four divisions and Zonal Seccretaries, as part of moves of updating data on number of teaching and non-teaching staff in public secondary schools in the state
Chairman of the agency, Evang. Olalekan Ifede during the meeting in Abeokuta, urged the Zonal Secretaries to always provide the commission with accurate information on number of teaching and non-teaching staff in secondary schools under their respective zones on monthly basis, in order to ease the process of reassigning of teachers for better qualitative knowledge delivery to students
Ifede added that detailed information would make TESCOM as an agency of government to improve on welfare packages for teaching and non-teaching staff in various schools
He stated that the such detailed information should be subjected to the Principal Generals’ check, to ease the Commission's stress and help foster efficient service delivery in schools
Ifede enjoined the Zonal Secretaries to synergise with Principals and Vice Principals to access full information of their staff and school activities, to further consolidate the Commission's programmes and projections.
The TESCOM boss said “Zonal Secretaries should promptly present accurate monthly returns of secondary schools under their zones, and failure to comply would soon begin to attract sanctions’’.
In his contribution, the Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Dr. Abdulwaheed Olanloye admonished the secretaries to always dress well and act responsibly to gain easy acceptance of Principals, Vice Principals and teachers in their various zones.
Speaking on behalf of other Zonal Secretaries, Mr. Sunday Orobiyi commended the effort of the Commission in creating a conducive atmosphere to enhance effective teaching and learning activities in schools.
