Ogun Govt Proposes N2bn For Flood, Erosion Control, Other Projects In 2023



Ogun State Government has proposed N2billion for various capital projects to address the perennial problems of flood, erosion, beautification of major streets and other environmental issues in the coming 2023 fiscal year

The State Commissioner for Environment, Mr. Ola Oresanya who made this known on Tuesday while defending his ministry's budgetary allocation before the State House of Assembly in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, revealed that N948.14million of the amount would be used for rehabilitation of some of the already environmental areas in the state caused by either flood or erosion,so as to prevent further degradation and arrest gully formation

He listed where the drainage systems will be constructed to address flooding and erosion to include, Ijebu-Ode, Ikenne, Sagamu, Ado-Odo, Ota, Ipokia and Yewa North Local Government Areas

Others are in Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Odeda, Obafemi-Owode, Ifo and Ewekoro Local Government Areas

The commissioner added that there would also be dredging of the drainage systems in Ijebu-Igbo, Sagamu, Ago-Iwoye, Ado-Odo, Yewa North,Ifo as well as Abeokuta South and North respectively

He disclosed that another N34.9million would be spent on construction of 10 public toilets across the state , to curtail open defecation, ensure cleaner environment and prevent outbreak of diseases in the state
