National Sports Festival:Delta Finishes Top As Ogun Wins Bid For Hosting In 2024





Host Delta State has again finished top on the final medal table at the just concluded 21st National Sports Festival in Asaba, just just as Ogun State won the bid to host the next edition of the festival in 2024

Sports Minister, Sunday Dare on Saturday announced Ogun State as the host of the next game in 2024, after successful biding for the sports festival by the state 




Team-Delta successfully defended the title won in the last edition of the sports festival in Edo State in 2021, after winning a total of 320 gold, 200 silver and 129 bronze medal , ahead of second placed, Team-Bayelsa who won 132 gold, 115 silver and 90 bronze medals 


Team-Edo finished in distant third position with 78 gold , 94 silver and 167 bronze medals, ahead of Team-Oyo who finished in fourth position with 50 gold, 51 silver and 62 bronze medals while Team-Lagos are next in fifth position with 41 gold, 57 silver and 74 bronze medals 

Others are sixth placed Team-Rivers who won 35 gold, 52 silver and 117 bronze medals, Team-Kano who finished in seventh position with 19 gold, 27 silver and 30 bronze medals while eight placed Team-Ogun won 15gold, 18 silver and 37 bronze medals

Team from Federal Capital Territory finished closely in nineth position with 15 gold, 11 silver and  33 bronze medals while Team-Akwa-Ibom completed the top ten with 14 gold, 15 silver and 33 bronze medals 

Winning the least of medals are 35th placed Team-Sokoto with a silver and two bronze medals and Team-Gombe in 36th position with six bronze medals while Team  Zamfara finished at the bottom of the table with zero medal
