The Federal Government has formally presented  certificates of registration to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics (CONUA) and National Association Of Dental and Medical Academics NAMDA as separate bodies of academic unions from the Academics Staff Union of Universities ASUU whose members have been on strike in public universities, since 14th of February, 2022 over revitilization funds and other unresolved issues in the university system

Deputy Director of Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Comrade Oshundun Olajide revealed this on Tuesday in an invitation sent to newmen for the presentation of certificates of registration to the two unions

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Chris Ngige according to the invitation,  performed  the presentation at the Honourable Minister Conference Room, Federal Secretariat, Phase 1, Abuja by 2 pm

The invitation reads in part :"The Honorable Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Chris Ngige cordially invites you to the recognition and presentation of Certificate of Registration to the Congress of Nigerian University Academics"

The striking Lecturers for past seven months have been demanding for  Revitalisation of Public Universities, Earned Academic Allowances, University Transparency Accountability Solution (UTAS) and promotion arrears.

Others are the renegotiation of the 2009 ASUU-FG Agreement and the inconsistency in Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System.

But members of CONUA who are mostly from the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife have kicked against the prolonged strike
