Why We Embrace Digital Business Registration -Ogun Govt

Ogun State Government has revealed that the engagement and training of stakeholders on automation policy on Business Premises Permit (BPP), for business operators was to educate  them on the process and benefits of registering their business premises.

The State Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mrs. Kikelomo Longe stated this in Ota at a forum for business operators in Ogun West Senatorial District, organised by the State government in partnership with the German Agency for Development, GIZ, saying business owners could register for Permit within minutes from the comfort of their offices instead of 18 days when it was done manually.

The Commissioner, represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Industry, Trade, and Investment, Ms. Sola Arobieke, said the event was the third in the series, after it was held in Ijebu-Ode for Ogun East Senatorial District and in Abeokuta for Ogun Central Senatorial District.

She noted that the present administration had on September 1, 2021, launched the BPP portal, businesspermit.ogunstate.gov.ng to remove the bureaucratic bottlenecks in the process of business registration and improve investors’ experience.

According to her, “the BPP is backed by law, and has addressed the past concerns of business owners on exploitation or extortion which made the process transparent and fair to all”.

Longe assured that the Ministry would continue to provide relevant technical support for entrepreneurs for prompt response to their requests, urging the stakeholders to own the automation process and align with best global practices.

Speaking earlier, the State Coordinator, GIZ, Mr. Stephen Dada, said the agency had partnered with the Ministry to train business operators on how the BPP portal works, and other beneficial ways of developing entrepreneurs, adding that officers were also skilled to provide necessary technical support.

On their parts, the Human Resource Support Manager, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Sango-Ota, Mr. Ayoola Johnson and the General Services Manager, Nestle Nigeria Plc, Mr. Goddy Okoebor, lauded the present administration for the initiative, saying the digitisation advantage in recent time would improve the business environment.
